Your Scalp Holds
More Than You Think.
Head Spa Massage
in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Scalp tightness, tension headaches, and neck pain don't clear up on their own. Our licensed massage therapists work directly on the source — most clients feel the difference within a single session.
Not Just Your Head.
Tension Lives Here Too.
Your scalp has dozens of muscles and thousands of nerve endings — and most people never have them worked on. Combine that with the dense cluster of muscles at the base of your skull, and you've got a part of your body that holds a remarkable amount of stress with nowhere to put it.
- Headache relief — directly addresses the muscles at the base of the skull most responsible for tension headache pain
- Scalp circulation — improves blood flow to the follicles and breaks up chronic surface tightness
- Stress reset — activates the body's rest response to lower stress hormones and restore mental calm
A head spa massage at Elite Spa Utah goes past the surface. Our licensed massage therapists use targeted pressure, kneading, and rhythmic technique to release the scalp's muscular layers, increase blood flow, and decompress the tight muscles at the base of your skull.
Whether you deal with chronic headaches, weeks of neck tension, or just need real care for a part of your body that's been ignored — this is one of the most effective and underbooked treatments we offer.
-
Headaches & Migraines
Works directly on the muscles at the base of the skull and temples — the most common drivers of tension headache pain.
-
Scalp Tension
Releases tight connective tissue across the skull that creates that persistent hat-band pressure feeling.
-
Hair & Scalp Health
Increases blood flow to the follicles, supporting a healthier scalp environment over time with regular sessions.
-
Neck & Shoulder Tension
Extends into the upper neck and shoulders for relief that connects the full tension chain — not just the scalp.
-
Stress & Anxiety
Rhythmic scalp work activates the body's rest response — reducing stress hormones and quieting an overactive nervous system.
-
Poor Circulation
Stimulates blood flow throughout the scalp and upper cranial region — an area that often gets very little direct attention.

Add-On Treatments
for More Relief
-
Aromatherapy Oils
Lavender for deep relaxation, peppermint to stimulate scalp circulation, or eucalyptus to open the sinuses and reduce inflammation during your session.
-
Hot Stone Enhancement
Warmed stones on the shoulders and upper back deliver steady heat before the session — loosening chronic muscle holding so the neck and scalp work lands deeper.
-
Full Body Massage
Extend the session from the scalp through the full body — most effective when your tension isn't isolated to the head and neck but spread across the whole body.
-
Deep Tissue Upgrade
Deeper pressure on the neck and upper shoulders for persistent or long-standing tension that lighter work can't fully reach on its own.
Frequently Asked
Questions about
Head Spa Massage
Everything you need to know before booking your first session at Elite Spa Utah.
-
No. The session is done fully clothed. You may be asked to loosen a collar or remove a jacket for easier access to the neck and shoulders — that's it. No disrobing required.
-
Yes — for tension headaches, this is one of the most targeted treatments available. Work goes directly to the muscles at the base of the skull and temples that drive most tension headache pain. Many clients arrive with an active headache and leave with significant relief. Regular sessions often reduce both frequency and severity over time.
-
30 minutes works well for a focused scalp or headache session. 60 minutes gives your masseuse time to cover the scalp, neck, and shoulders properly. 90 minutes is best if you're carrying significant tension or want deeper work. All four durations — 30, 60, 90, and 120 minutes — are available.
-
Nothing special. Wear comfortable clothing, arrive a few minutes early, and mention any injuries or medical history before you begin. Your masseuse will adjust their approach from the start based on what you share.
-
That's fine — and actually common. Your masseuse will start gently and adjust pressure as muscles begin to release. Tell them where you feel the pain and they'll focus there first. You're always in control of pressure level throughout the session.
-
For chronic headaches or persistent tension, every 2–4 weeks tends to produce the best cumulative results. For general maintenance, once a month is a solid starting point. Your masseuse will give you a personalized recommendation after your first visit.
